Our clients' experiences, in their own words.
I now enjoy going for a pain-free walk, and don’t dread going up hill.
I found a really welcoming group of people. Everyone is so busy trying to move their own limbs and bodies they don’t worry about what anyone else looks like.
Walking has now become such a different experience, I have to constantly remember to straighten by knee but the power that I get when doing so is amazing!
I feel we’ve become a little community over the years!
Now at nearly 72, I feel confident about walking and I haven't had a fall since I started.
I am totally surprised how gradually making small changes to my walking pattern has made it much more efficient.
I am now particularly conscious of how I position my body through a gym class and how my body moves when I walk.
After attending the classes I had an epiphany on a dog walk that I was rolling over on my right foot. I corrected it and now I get zero pain.
being able to squat down and get something on the bottom of the supermarket shelves, getting out of the bath and easily going from lying on the floor to standing without any trouble.
also my balance has improved and at 83 that's quite an achievement, so am happy to keep trying.
I mentioned the elbow and showed him how far I could straighten it and to both our surprise I could straighten it fully!
My balance and strength are relatively stable, which is remarkable considering my age with a degree of arthritis.
I generally feel more flexible and toned compared to 10 years ago.
I can walk again without foot pain ,I can spread my toes!!! And I feel stronger and more upright.
My whole body feels and moves with ease
Since joining Gaile’s class in February 25 I’ve never looked back and the pain has gone. Moreover, her classes are fun and we all have a laugh together.
I am more aware of my posture and much more able to move freely.
I would really encourage anyone who has aches and pains to try a class.
I used to suffer a great deal with lower back pain but now when old friends say, ‘How’s your back?’ I always think ‘What back?!’
massive changes - I now have flex through my back and don't hold myself so rigidly (although I have to remind myself). This has been really helpful in riding my horse.
After about a year I began to see real improvement. The pain had lessened and I could move significantly better.
I now am able to manage it and most of the time it is pain free though probably not quite as flexible as the other one.
My previously stiff back with intermittent periods of restrictive pain and discomfort no longer troubles me since I attended your invaluable classes.
She understands us all individually, and we work at our own pace. We have friendship, fun and hard work!
Doing the assessments and really paying attention to how my body felt before and after was a game changer.
I noticed that I was recovering for other sports quicker and I was able to do more activities during the week.
You are not pushed to do things that your body finds hard, but to do what you can and build on it. There is no competition amongst attendees like at the gym for instance, so there is no need to feel uncomfortable.
The most important thing I’ve gained from the classes is a greater awareness of my body in EVERYDAY LIFE!
I'm not as clumsy!!! Flexibility is better but also my knowledge and understanding of my body and how things work.
I thought I had “done “ pilates before but Gailes “Not On The High Street Pilates” is a new way of getting the best from your body
I’d recommend Gailes classes to anyone: you don’t need special clothes, you won’t be put on the spot - you will find a form of regular exercise which is tailored to you and will make a difference to your everyday life for years to come.
